It’s almost time again for the National Championship Air Races! My name is Kimberley West and I will be your host and guide to the races held this September at Reno, NV.
For five action-packed days, I will be publishing daily posts about the spectacular events happening at the world’s fastest air sport. I’ll have interviews with as many pilots as I can, and you’ll learn about aviation and its history. We may even get lucky and have interviews with some of the world’s aviation living legends, such as the remarkable Bob Hoover and Clay Lacy. I will also be interviewing race fans and the pioneers of the sport.
I would love to hear any comments and questions from you, whether you are an aeronautical veteran or a newbie race fan.
We’ve only 24 days until the races begin!
Good luck and Godspeed.
Hi,
I’m attending the Reno Air Races for the first time this year and don’t have a real knowledge of planes. Is there something a beginner like me should know about the races before I attend? What can I expect from the Races?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me, a newbie.
Janet
Hi Janet,
Those were great questions and were answered as part of my blog page today – so be sure to take a look! I love hearing from Race Fans, so since I know you’ll be one soon, please send any other Race questions my way and I’ll be happy to respond!
Being of a certain age, I am always interested in things having to do with WWII. Hope that the airshow has aircraft of that vintage and that you will be mentioned them. Look forward to reading your blogs.
Hi Anne!
You bet I’ll be talking about the War Birds! I’ll track their qualifying races and times, let you know all the lastest information about performance and any interesting behind the scenes antics! They’re my favorites and I’ll be taking lots of pictures and posting what I can on the Blog! Thanks for your comment and stay tuned for more!
Hi Warbirdbabe,
A good idea to start up your blog about Reno Air Races. I attend the races for about 20 years now and every year again I can’t wait till it’s finally September. I hope that after the races you’ll find some other interesting warbird events to continue your blog.
As I’m also an active crew member of the CAF B-24/B29 squadron, and the annual CAF airshow is October 10/11, this might be maybe already the next item for your blog.
Regards, and “Keep ‘m Flying”
